Sneak Peek Into First Children's Book!

Hiya! So, here is a sneak peek into my first illustrated children’s book, “The Adventures of William the Brownie.”

Admittedly, posting these is bittersweet for me; I’d originally intended to work on the project with a friend. But, as my naive self has since learned, sometimes life unfortunately changes our plans.

Thankfully, I’ve made a new friend willing to tackle the project. He’s the same wonderful Philip who will also be creating my manga version of Bloodmaiden, once we’re ready for all that.

But for now, some character designs from The Adventures of William the Brownie, scheduled for release this summer!!

Oh, and feel free to “Like” Philip here:
The guardian fairy of children, Cardea

Left to right: Brendan, Shymaya, and Mason;
Brendan just cracks me up every time I see him!

New Character Designs for "D.N.A."

Wow, it's been ages since I have posted anything anywhere!

Well, I've mostly been a busy author behind the scenes these past couple of years. Re-editing The Gailean Quartet to professional standards. Same with The Hero Chronicles, to be renamed A Shadow Beyond Time. Completing my first children's book. Planning my first manga. Should be ready to finally start releasing some of this new stuff either end of this year or beginning of next.

In the meantime, I've finally started writing a book I've had in mind for about a year now but just haven't had the real drive or inspiration to start until now. It's called "D.N.A." and will have a sequel, "D.N.R. (Do Not Resuscitate)." It's a Young Adult book, but more for older young adults, since it will have some pretty gritty stuff in it, including violence, mental illness, abuse, and some other issues I won't reveal just yet. Don't get me wrong--it's not all dark. There are some lovely friendships and other relationships to explore. But there are also quite dark moments as well.

It's going to be fun though, because it's my first time messing around with the concept of the "unreliable narrator." My main character, who is in tight first person view, tends to create opinions of the people around her who can be very skewed. She tends to create both idolizations and anxieties that are irrational. The readers may see this, but will she eventually? You'll have to wait to find out.

This is also my first time adding sci-fi elements to a fantasy. The characters live in the world of Fairie which is divided into four realms. There are twelve races in this world, each named after one of the twelve astrological signs. The story takes place in the Realm of Air, which is all about progressiveness. They have the best technology, the largest cities. A very wealthy realm, materialistically speaking. They have advanced sciences as well and are well-known for their "clones." You can custom-order a spouse, child, etc. in the Realm of Air.

I won't give away too much more, because there will be a lot to discover in the book itself. For right now, enjoy the character designs. The girl with the pale green skin and aquamarine eyes is part Taurian, part Ariean, and her name is Isllyn. The girl with ebony skin tinged purple and striking silver eyes is an Aquarian, but I've yet to officially name her.

Enjoy, and keep posted over the next year or so! There's likely to be lots more activity here, and elsewhere from me, if I have anything to say about it.
